Hearing loss is abnormal or reduced hearing sensitivity. Hearing impairment is a descriptor for individual with any degree of hearing loss. This impairment is considered a hidden handicap. When there is a barrier in communication, the negative impact on individual’s ability to communicate effectively is evident, thus compromising the emotional, behavioral, educational, socio-economic status and quality of life in general.
